For Mac · macOS 13 Ventura or later · Apple silicon and Intel
On first launch, Gridly asks which folders it may open. Pick your home folder to include Desktop, Documents and Downloads, or choose just the folders you want.
Press ⌘T for another folder tile. Tiles size themselves; drag a tile’s grip to swap places. Each tile keeps its own path and history.
Press ⌘J and type a few letters to reach a folder. Type > first to run any command by name.
Mac App Store apps can only open folders you choose. This keeps your files private. When a tile says Gridly needs your permission, click Allow Access… and confirm the folder in the panel. Gridly remembers your choice next time.
Locations macOS shares with every app, such as Macintosh HD and Applications, open straight away.
Choose File → Open Folder… (⌘O), or go to Settings → File Access → Choose Folders…. Choosing your home folder covers Desktop, Documents and Downloads at once.
This happens if the folder was moved, renamed or is on a drive that was disconnected. Reconnect the drive if needed, then choose the folder again with Allow Access….
Recents and Mac-wide search use your Mac’s Spotlight index, so locations Spotlight doesn’t index won’t appear. Open the containing folder to browse it directly.
⌘T new tile · ⌘W close tile · ⌘J Jump · ⌘L go to a path · ⌘O open a folder · ⌘, Settings · ⌃⌘F full screen. Press Space to Quick Look the selected file.
Open Tools → Saved Layouts to save your current tiles and reopen them later. Exported layouts contain folder paths and tile settings only — never files or permissions.
Yes. Open Settings → Features → Top bar buttons, or run Help → Set Up Gridly… again. The Settings button always stays, and every command is still in the menus and in Jump (⌘J).
Choose Help → Take the Tour any time. It spotlights tiles, the sidebar, Jump, the workspace tools, Settings and the Feedback button. Press Esc to leave.
Open Settings → Appearance to pick a theme such as Midnight, Ocean or Light, then fine-tune colours, fonts, spacing and transparency. Each theme remembers your changes.
Gridly never overwrites it. The existing file is kept and Gridly tells you about the conflict, so you can choose another name or destination.
Yes. Use Edit → Undo for recent file actions, and Tools → Undo Last Auto Sort for the latest sort — even after restarting Gridly. Undo keeps any conflicting files safe and reports anything it can’t restore.
Open Tools → File Transfers and cancel it. Partly copied files are removed and your originals are untouched. Gridly finishes active file work safely before it quits.
Gridly moves items to the macOS Trash rather than erasing them. Open Trash in the sidebar and drag the item back, or restore it from Finder.
Sign in to the App Store with the same Apple Account, open your account page and download Gridly from your purchases at no extra cost.

Updates arrive through the Mac App Store. Turn on automatic updates in App Store → Settings, or choose Gridly → App Store Updates… to check now.
